Challenge: Streamline the workflow associated with data
submission and archival on an on-going basis
Solution: Tameran’s Data Submittal and Archive
Services
A large U.S. based manufacturer of military helicopters had a data submittal
and archive requirement for initial and on-going design data to the U.S.
military in JEDMICS format. Utilizing a combination of software, conversion
services and archive services, the submittals are made within 48 hours
of the data release. Aperture cards are delivered subsequently along with
a back up copy of the JEDMICS submittal.
The Result: The whole workflow process has been automated,
including the additional benefit of providing a data set ready for batch
loading into the customer’s EDMS and PDM systems. Cycle time has
been improved from four weeks to 48 hours with 1/8 the labor. As a result
of the software implementation, four separate workflow processes have
been streamlined into one workflow. Back

Challenge: Create a simplified process to find, access
and receive hard copies of scanned images of drawings
Solution: Tameran’s Corporate Document Distribution
A manufacturer has improved its employees’ efficiency by eliminating
their “print room” and its high costs. This manufacturer saves
time as well as printing and distribution costs by making scanned images
of drawings available to all users on their corporate intranet. Employees
and users no longer have to waste time waiting for copies and print outs
to generate from a central print room. All users can browse thumbnails
of images, do fast keyword searches on document names, order hard copies
via job tickets and receive electronic copies of any needed drawings.
The Result: The employees are now driving the business
instead of sitting around and waiting for documents to arrive. Back

Challenge: Shorten the length of a product development
cycle by streamlining design reviews
Solution: Tameran’s Design Review Cycle
A manufacturer was falling behind its competitors due to its long product
development cycle. This manufacturer has now cut the length of its design
review cycles by as much as 80%. Reviews can now be done simultaneously
(rather than sequentially) and review comments, redlines and mark-ups
are immediately available to all authorized users. Field personnel have
instant access to data, can mark-up and e-mail back revisions, or schedule
real-time collaboration sessions deploying industry standard products
such as WebEx.
Result: Tameran’s solution helped the manufacturer
eliminate delays and conflicting review changes, ensuring the use of the
correct revisions. This also allows for any conflicts to be settled on
the spot. Now the company’s market share is growing and customers
are being taken care of in a prompt and efficient manner which today’s
economy requires. Back

Challenge: Simplify and speed up order changes, tracking,
plans and other related changes
Solution: Tameran’s Engineering Document Management,
Distribution and Revision Monitoring
A global corporation has changed their manual, sequential and expensive
process to track change order information in its many facilities located
around the world. Using our digital distribution process and their corporate
e-mail capabilities, the previous manual and time-consuming process for
tracking change order information, site installation plans, and as-installed
versus as-designed changes has been accelerated.
Result: Since the solution handles multiple, simultaneous
users, the corporation can offer these capabilities to their entire organization
– no matter where the employees are located, making their world
a little smaller! Using the subscription feature in vivacé, users
are kept abreast of any changes to the documents automatically via text
messaging on their cell phones or through an intelilink in an automatically

Challenge: Converting legacy data and making it accessible
to users
Solution: Tameran’s Business Financial Services
and Conversion Services
A large metropolitan county needed to convert 16mm, 35mm roll film, fiche
and aperture cards to an indexed digital image for use on their internal
document management system. Additionally, they needed to provide web access
to the public. By using Tameran Business Services to finance the conversion
cost over three years, the project was cost justified from day one of
implementation.
Result: With Tameran’s conversion services and
related software, the project, which consisted of 13.5 million documents,
was online and finished in six months. Back

Challenge: Converting old technical drawings into electronic
documents for easy distribution for bidding on jobs
Solution: Document Archive and E-commerce
A government agency has switched from being a print shop to an electronic
clearinghouse. The agency developed a repository of technical drawings
and specifications for potential suppliers. These suppliers (anywhere
in the world) can browse the documents to determine if they wish to bid.
If so, they can immediately purchase and then electronically download
the documents they have browsed, and print them locally.
Result: With this system, more bids are submitted and
the resulting prices paid have declined due to the higher number or bidders.
In addition, the agency has lowered its operating expenses of distributing
the data; a true win-win situation. Back

Challenge: Managing and distributing drawings and documents
for over 10,000 locations
Solution: Wide-Area Facilities Management
The parent company for a group of franchised fast food restaurants previously
used aperture cards and paper to manage all of their facility drawings
and associated documents for more than 10,000 stores. Now their internal
and external users have easy access to all drawings and related documents.
Result: Contractors, administrators, legal staff and
maintenance personnel can view, collaborate and print from anywhere within
the corporate wide area network or remotely at their desktops. The previous
three-day turnaround is now instantaneous without all of the added costs,
both hard and soft. Back
