Most scanners do an adequate job of scanning a document, but capturing the image isn't the whole story. In order to effectively utilize images of drawings and related documents in a digital storage and distribution system, you must have high quality, high fidelity images that are standardized and indexed appropriately. Due to the quality and type of the original document being scanned, as well as the differences in various models of equipment being used to scan the media, images are generally not uniform in terms of quality, size or clarity. ImagePrep provides you with a myriad of powerful image processing tools that can be applied to the entire image or sections of the image. Tools available include deskew, auto-deskew, despeckle, cut, auto-cut, line-thinning, line restoration, customize resolution, customize image size and more. Everything you need to produce professional high quality, ready-to-use images is provided.
Make order out of chaos
Whether your images were created using a scanner or a file conversion program, chances are you want your corresponding index information to make sense. Automated file names such as 001, 002, 003… don't provide much help, particularly when those names are regenerated day after day after day. Before you know it, digital chaos is in control. With ImagePrep, indexing of your images will make order out of chaos. Index files may be named or renamed, either manually or automatically, based upon the root name of the image file or on a defined sequencing scheme.
Charting the course
ImagePrep provides users with the ability to design unique data acquisition templates to maximize productivity and reduce errors by providing structured data collection, mapping and formatting. The Data Acquisition Toolkit allows you to map template data acquisition fields to files that contain the desired data, thereby reducing data input time. Data entry fields can each be linked to one of nine definable image views for fast image navigation. In addition, index data may be automatically re-mapped in order that output files conform to the particular input requirements of various other document management and business systems. After using the data acquisition templates to acquire the data, the images can be loaded individually or in bulk to databases in virtually any structure or format you desire.
One Button Processing with ImagePrep Plus
ImagePrep Plus has all the image processing and data
acquisition capabilities of ImagePrep with the addition of Workflow Designer
and Automated Workflow Processing. Workflow Designer is an easy-to-use, Visio®-like interface that allows you to streamline image
and data processing functions. Using the features of ImagePrep, you create a
workflow that can be applied to a group of documents or even a specified
directory. Workflow Processor is an automated engine that processes the
workflow designed in Workflow Designer. Just a click of your mouse allows you
to sit back and relax while your images are deskewed, despeckled, named, sorted
and filed right where you want them to be.
